 Alumni Weekend on the Horizon for YC Athletics

With fall sports in full swing for the Roughriders, the athletics department is excited to pair one of its busiest sports weekends with Yavapai College’s Alumni Reunion Weekend. All festivities will take place on the weekend of September 23-25 (Friday-Sunday).

Sports

On Friday the 23rd, the Yavapai College women’s volleyball team will face off against the Phoenix College Bears inside of Walraven Gymnasium at 7 p.m. On Saturday the 24th, the Yavapai College men’s and women’s soccer teams will face the South Mountain Community College Cougars with the men kicking off at 3:30 p.m. and women kicking off at 6 p.m.

Individual ticket prices for each game are as follows: $7 for adults, $5 for non-YC students, veterans and senior citizens and FREE for YC students, staff and faculty and children ages six-and-under. 

Golf

The 2nd Annual Roughrider Athletics Golf Classic will take place on Sunday the 25th at Antelope Hills Golf Course with check in at 7:30 a.m. and tee off set for 8 a.m. All proceeds go directly to funding scholarships. In addition to golf, sponsorship opportunities for the day are available. To sign up, click here

Hall of Fame Brunch

On Saturday the 24th, Yavapai Athletics will induct the Class of 2022 into the Yavapai College Athletics Hall of Fame at 11:30 a.m. inside of Walraven Gymnasium. Tickets for the brunch can be purchased here

1992 Men’s Soccer Team – 24-1-0 record and Conference, Region, District and National Champions

1979-80 Men’s Basketball Team – 22-15 record, Region Championship and fourth-place finish at national tournament

Michele Vickrey – 1991-93 Women’s Basketball, ACCAC Player of the Year, Two-Time All-Conference honoree, All-Region honoree, NJCAA All-American, NJCAA Academic All-American, single-game assists record (14), single-game steals record (11) and top-ten in career scoring and assists at YC 

Casper Ware – 1979-81 Men’s Basketball, Two-time All-Conference honoree, All-Region honoree, NJCAA All-Tournament Team honoree, NJCAA All American and Bud Obee Award Winner (Most Outstanding Small Player at NJCAA Tournament)

Michael Pantalione – 1988-2021 Men’s Soccer Head Coach, 636-63-30 overall record, 7X National Champion, 21 National Tournament Appearances with 19 Final-Four Finishes, 43 Region and District Championships, 28 ACCAC Championships, All-Time Lead in NJCAA Victories, 7X NJCAA National Coach of the Year, 5X NSCAA National Coach of the Year, NSCAA/NISOA National Merit Honor recipient, NJCAA National Service Award recipient, NSCAA Bill Jeffrey Award recipient, ACCAC Hall of Fame, NJCAA Hall of Fame, United Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame
