HomeCity and State Gov't1 Month To Go Get Prepared Now

1 Month To Go Get Prepared Now

The Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) wants to remind you that income tax returns are due one month from today, on Monday, April 18, 2022.

ADOR encourages electronic filing and direct deposit as they are more secure, more efficient, and significantly faster–up to six times faster–than paper returns and checks when it comes to getting a refund.

  • E-File – Visit the Department’s E-File Services page at https://azdor.gov/e-file-services to view the list of software providers certified to submit electronically filed returns with ADOR.
  • Online Paper Forms – For taxpayers who prefer to prepare their own returns, ADOR provides fillable, calculating forms and instructions to print at azdor.gov/Forms. Ensure that you download and open the forms from your computer folder using the newest version of Adobe Acrobat, as they contain JavaScript coding and do not operate properly in internet browsers. If filing by paper, you should allow for 6-8 weeks from the date filed to receive any refund.

After you file:

  • Choose Direct Deposit – Direct deposit is an easy and convenient way for you to get your refund. Direct deposit is available regardless of whether the return is filed electronically or by mail. If your bank account rejects the deposit, ADOR will send you a paper check.
  • Where’s My Refund? – You can rapidly check on your Arizona tax refund status anytime by clicking the “Where’s My Refund?” link.

If you need more time to file, submit a Form 204 on or before April 18 to request an extension. As a reminder, an extension does not grant more time to pay taxes owed. If you have already been granted an extension through the IRS, you do not need to submit a separate State of Arizona extension request if you simply check the box on your return indicating the approved federal extension.

Visit ADOR’s website at https://azdor.gov/individual-income-tax-information for additional tax filing requirements, instructions, and important tax filing tips.
